Like any bush camp by the beach it has its fair share of mosquitos, sand flies and March flies. There's a resident sand monitor and a few bush turkeys, one with a large mound at the beach end of the campsite. When we visited outside of school holidays it was quiet during the week but not suprisingly filled on the weekend. There was also a lot more day visitors on the beach and track.

The sites are close to each other with sites 1, 2 and 6 being the most remote.

The site sizes are as they are listed by National Parks. There are water taps between sites 2 and 4, 5 and 7,  and 11 and 13.

Entries to the spine path running from the toilet to the beach are between sites 1 and 3, 3 and 5, 7 and 8, 11 and 13, and opposite site 9.

It was dry the week we were there so it is hard to tell what the sites are like in the wet. There are signs of drainage works by previous campers but that was not long after well above average and persistent rain.

It is a short walk to the beach, which is popular with the fisherman. There's a deep gutter just offshore at low tide. Being calm and shallow it is good swimming for the kids. We did see a shark swim along the beach just after high tide.

I've uploaded photos of most of the sites in the middle of the day so you can see shape, size and shade.

Need 4wd or car with high clearance. Sandy road

As at November 2017 camp site 6 is adjacent to the beginning of the walk to Russell's Rest and appears larger than the old site 6. This move has also given extra car space near sites 4, 5 and 7.

The shower and toilet block has two toilets, one being ambulant, and one shower cubicle for each sex. There's a cold water shower along with rope and pulley for solar showers. Another shower is at the beach walkway. Another camper said that the Ranger told him that it was on town water. This is credible looking at the state of the nearby raised water tank, other infrastructure and lack of do not drink signs.

The four-and-a-half kilometre track in from Walker Point road, "campground road", is soft sand. At the time of writing the beach entry points were easy as was the drive down the beach outside a couple of hours either side of high tide. That can change of course. Entry at the Woodgate end is not obvious when coming from Woodgate - left when Walker Point road does a sharp right. The track parallel to the beach marked on Google maps is not open to public vehicles, but does make for a pleasant walk.
